Epcot

To be honest, I don't feel like I have a great deal to say about Epcot. To me, it feels like it's now the weakest of the parks. I suspect it's because there's not a great deal of new stuff since our last visit. The biggest difference is that Wonders of Life has closed. I liked Wonders of Life.

The only attraction in Future World that had been updated since our last visit was Spaceship Earth. I like the changes, but it's not really anything earth-shattering. There was new stuff in Innoventions too, and I did like designing and then riding our own rollercoaster in Sum of All Thrills. My only complaint was that the time limit for the designing was very short and it didn't give you a chance to really understand the maths/physics principles that it was purported to be about. The actual ride was very good though. I found Mission: Space more motion-sickness-inspiring than last time but I still enjoyed it. I think Test Track and Soarin' are still my favourite Epcot attractions.

World Showcase was pretty much the same as our last visit. The Mexico ride has been changed to incorporate Donald Duck but the feel of the ride hasn't really changed. I do like the new Kim Possible missions although we found them to be a little picky about where you stood when you were pressing the button. I still love the music for Illuminations too.

A couple of the Epcot monorails have been rethemed as Tronorails. They looked cool. Honey I Shrunk the Audience was closed in preparation for the opening of Captain EO, which sounds like it's going to be pretty popular. But overall I think Disney needs to put some more work into Epcot to keep it fresh.

I think the problem with Epcot (or at least, Future World) is largely that there has been a cultural change since it was originally designed. When Epcot first opened, people were very positive about the future and excited to learn about new technology. Now, people associate the future with negative environmental change and it's no longer something to be excited about. So things like Animal Kingdom have much more relevance to people than Epcot. I guess some of the exhibits in Innoventions cater towards the more concerned view about the future, and I hope that Epcot can be kept fresh by concentrating on technological solutions to some of the problems we are facing.
