It seems like most of my in-park dining occurred at Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so this post will cover a number of locations - Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney/Disney Springs.
Hollywood Studios
Starring Rolls
This is a small café with an indoor ordering area and outdoor seating. The line goes past a Grab and Go area with drinks and pastries, then to a counter where you can order sandwiches, desserts and drinks, then to another counter where you pay. When I had lunch just before 12, the place was almost empty and it was easy to walk around and look at all of the options before I chose what I wanted. But when we visited for breakfast the place was packed so you had to take what you wanted from the Grab and Go before you had a chance to look at the choices behind the counter.
For lunch I had a ham sandwich, which was actually a slice taken from a giant sandwich. There was a lot of ham on the sandwich but not much else (a small amount of green stuff and some mustard) and I didn't actually find it as filling as I expected. The sandwich came with a choice of fruit or potato chips so I took an apple and saved it for a snack. For dessert I got a cinnamon roll planning to save it for breakfast but I ate most of it when I got hungry again a couple of hours later. For my drink I had an iced coffee and was very pleased that they had real milk instead of creamer (next time I would ask them to leave room in the cup for milk as I had to drink some of the coffee first to fit it in).
ABC Commissary
This restaurant seems to get a bad rap but I like the variety available plus the fact that the seating is indoors. My only complaint was that the lines to order were quite long. I ate here with my brother and we ordered the burger with aioli and fried shrimp and a seafood basket, one with fries and one with broccoli. The serving of both fries and broccoli was huge. For dessert I ordered the cupcake because it had a cute Minnie bow on it, but the taste was pretty average. I also ate most of my brother's chocolate mousse, which I preferred. I was able to get a bottle of orange juice for my drink which was nice as I was able to take it with me.
Writer's Stop
Lots of people online raved about the carrot cake cookie here so I decided to try it (a snack on the DDP). I was a bit disappointed given the hype. The frosting was quite nice but the cake/cookie part was dry without a lot of texture or taste. I wouldn't have one of these again. The Writer's Stop itself was quite nice though, and had a decent selection of books and DVDs that I didn't see in other shops.
Animal Kingdom
Flame Tree Barbecue
I had planned to get the ribs and chicken combo here because it's a great value on the DDP but when I arrived I wasn't in the mood - it was just too hot, especially given that all the seating is outside. So instead I went for the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Salad. It was very tasty with plenty of chicken although it didn't really agree with my stomach (not sure if it was the spices or the black beans). For dessert I had the Key Lime Mousse which was nice but not especially memorable. For my drink I had the Mandarin Lemonade which was really nice (the mandarin flavour wasn't super strong but it wasn't as tart as regular lemonade).
Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafe
This is main quick service restaurant in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom (not to be confused with just "Yak and Yeti", which is the table service restaurant). I went for the Honey Chicken because the other hot options had either mushrooms or onions. The chicken was nice but the serving size was on the small side (especially the amount of vegetables) and there wasn't enough sauce to put any on the rice. I had the pineapple coconut cake for dessert, which was quite nice. The only options for drinks were fountain drinks so I asked about substitutions on the DDP and was told I could get a side instead of a dessert but the drink had to be a drink, so I had to settle for a lemonade (I was given a large without asking though).
Restaurantosaurus
This restaurant doesn't have the most exciting menu but I wanted to try it to check out the theming inside, which was very detailed (I particularly liked all of the dinosaur pictures made from handprints). It also had the advantage of being the only Quick Service in Animal Kingdom with indoor seating (since Pizzafari was closed when I was there). I had the Mac & Cheese hot dog with apple slices and also grabbed a bit of tomato from the toppings bar. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse and for my drink I had the wildberry lemonade. Overall the meal was a bit on the small side (I guess partly because I had apple slices instead of fries) but I enjoyed it.
Harambe Market
Harambe Market is a new quick-service restaurant in Africa at Animal Kingdom. It's really a collection of small quick-service locations which share a seating area, similar to the Sunset Ranch Market in Hollywood Studios. We went to Kitamu Grill and shared a grilled chicken skewer. The chicken itself wasn't as tasty/spicy as I had hoped. It came with a broccoli and tomato salad which was served cold with a vinaigrette - I think it would have been a little nicer served hot. The only advertised option for dessert at any of the locations within Harambe Market is the African Milk Tart (although the person in front of me was offered apple slices as an alternative). I was very happy with the tart though - it was a custard tart with chocolate, coconut and spices (cinnamon, etc.) - very tasty. Like many of the Animal Kingdom restaurants, Harambe Market offered a flavoured lemonade as a drink - this time a watermelon lemonade.
Tamu Tamu Refreshments
This counter service location only serves desserts, most of which are snacks on the DDP. I tried the chocolate waffle with espresso mousse. This was nice - although the topping was more like a parfait than a mousse.
Blizzard Beach
Lottawatta Lodge
This is the main restaurant in Blizzard Beach and sells traditional fast food. At 11am all of the Blizzard Beach attractions closed because of lightning, so we shared a meal here. We had chicken nuggets and fries which were nice although nothing exciting. For dessert we had a fruit cup (it was listed under sides on the menu, but there was no issue getting it as the dessert on the DDP). The fruit (apple, pineapple and rockmelon) was nicer than I expected - it tasted like it had been cut/packed very recently and the pineapple was very sweet. They were advertising a blue raspberry frozen lemonade in a souvenir cup, and when I asked what drinks were available on the DDP the cashier said we could have the frozen lemonade in a regular cup so we went for that.
Mini Donuts
I had heard good things about the mini doughnuts here, but when I went their Magic Band scanner wasn't working and I didn't have any other method of payment with me, so I was forced to go without.
Downtown Disney/Disney Springs
Wolfgang Puck Express
This restaurant is in the Marketplace, right near the hotel buses. It's pretty much the nicest restaurant that you can use a DDP quick service credit for. You order at the counter but a waiter brings the meal to your table, refills your drink and clears the table. I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf which was really nice (definitely café quality more than quick service) and a huge serving. For dessert I had creme brûlée - this was nice but it came at the same time as my main, so I had to eat it halfway through before the top went soft. Although the restaurant sells bottled drinks (juice, etc.) they are not available as drinks on the DDP - only fountain drinks are allowed (they do include free refills though). I would definitely recommend eating here on the DDP and I would consider it out of pocket as an alternative to a casual table service restaurant.
